NEW Please read. About two weeks after you enter a BAR car's information in "Add to list" it will show up on search engines. So what that means is that you can go to Google and type the VIN or plate in and see if its anywhere on this list or on the Internet.So knowing this it is important that if possible you enter the entire VIN and plate number. Also the BAR rats have started taking known undercover cars to stations and removing or changing defects. So that some people have been cited with failing a passing car. Best thing to do is NOT SMOG A KNOWN BAR CAR EVER. Its not about air quality anymore its ALL ABOUT MONEY. It's us and them. They sit around all day and think of ways to screw us out of out money while our work and sweat put food in there children's mouths as the rats feed at the public through.

Interesting that Sherry Mehl was appointed by former Governor Schwarzenegger. Interesting but not surprising since Mr Schwarzenegger is know to be dissuaded by the opposite sex, if you know what I mean :) Mr Schwarzenegger's wife can attest to this fact. Possibly Sherry was a we bit under qualified for the position and more than a wee bit over bearing to make up for her deficiencies. Passing the gauntlet in the middle the biggest money grabbing scam ever devised by BAR is sure to cause a change. If history repeats itself this change will not be for the better as far as us working people are concerned. The only way IMHO to improve our future is to FORCE :~ the BAR to treat us like humans. What this site proposes is the only organized move against BAR I have seen in 15 years in the Smog Business. The path that the Smog Check program is taking is leading down the road of poverty and smashing many American dreams in the name of stressful, overbearing regulation and taxation under the ruse of enforcement. This may be our last and only chance. I sincerely hope that people in the smog check industry that happen to read this will give supporting THIS SITE consideration as if there future depends on it, as it well may



You can just imagine what happened when the shirt and tie wearing "employees" of the State of California sat down and tried to figure out what to do about there job security and benefits. At this moment was born the idea that Smog Techs should be perfect. And anything less than perfection would result in a thousand dollars beaning added to the State employee retirement fund. Seeing how profitable it was to make up thousands of laws and get paid to find someone who broke one, the assult began. Recently the state has gone to the extreme of removing the check engine light out of an OBDll vehicle to get more money from Smog Techs that otherwise refused to contribute to the State retirement fund.



The budget is getting so bad that they RAISED the limit on fines to three thousand dollars for a single offense. As of this writing I do not know of anyone that has suffered from such outrageous fines, but it is coming. The federal government is voting on a budget and no matter what that budget is it will mean less money for individual States. This will only move the money grab to a new level.



The state is not stupid. Charging extravagant fines for minor human error will help but what they needed was a complete restructure. Now admittedly they need one anyway. The machines are old and slow. Parts are getting hard to get. The machines cannot even communicate with modern CAN vehicles. But the restructure dramatically raised the revenue that the state makes off of the smog check program. First the state acts like its helping lower costs (ROTFL!) by allowing a new category of smog test. That is a 5000 dollar OBD machine whose operator will only be required to take an 8 hour course. And yes, this will lower the cost of smogs by taking the money out of our pockets and letting anyone with five thousand dollars and enough sense to punch a keyboard open a smog shop.So WE pay for the "Program change"(In places where this has happened the price of a smog has gone down to as low as $15, can you live on that?) But the State now gets to sell more ARD license, more station license and has a greater number of shops to nit pick and fine. The BAR in its infinite greediness had decided to require diesel and older cars get smoged every year doubling the cit money that the state gets in these categories. Remember they are saving the consumer from us greedy smog shops.



The truth is the state takes your money. Then it makes state agency's that find ways to take more money. And if you don't like it they will take the money that they took from you and hire a lawyer to make sure they keep taking money from you. So we see an common thing here. There is nothing more important to the state then money. The only way to slow down the state bleeding of the smog industry is to make it unprofitable to do so. It costs the state to conduct undercover runs. It costs to install surveillance equipment. They have to pay the idiot that drives it into your shop. They have to do a smog on it themselves. They have to pay you to do the smog. They also have been know to put the undercover car on a tow truck and tow it to location. The last undercover car that was in this area operated for two and a half months that I know of. SAME CAR, SAME faults (Timing 10 off) Same ugly overpaid state employee driving it. (Sheesh BAR send me a woman next time:) Nobody bothered to call other shops and tell them of a suspect vehicle. In this area approx 40% of the shops had to pay thousand dollar fines. Some had paper work or seckond offenses and paied fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars. We can't let our money be stolen like this. We have to communicate. Whats your failure rate maybe 10 out of a hundred 10%. Out thoes 10 vehicles how many are check engin light, monitors, or tailpipe. (things the BAR won't do.) maybe eight? that leave two out of a hundred. Out of thoes two how many were your buddies. So you may have one failure out of a hundred that was a suspect BAR car. So at the most once a week you call your competors shop and warn him. Once a week he calls you. Also consider posting the information on the Message Board.



Until now, there has not been very much you could do about the constant unconstitutional attack on you right to try to make a living. Try not to get a citation! Make sure the Smog tech has all the tools he needs on a daily basis. Every morning make sure there is a timing light, vacuum pump, jumper wires, reference books. Make sure he is not under pressure and has time to smog the car. Keep customers away if possible. Please see "Avoid a citation."



Call your competitor and make peace on this point.If ether of you see or smog a suspicious car CALL THE OTHER SHOPS around you. If the same car goes to two or three different shops CALL SHOPS IN NEARBY TOWNS. This is an EMERGENCY the State is making money. Try to get the personal cell number of nearby shop owners. I have done this myself and never have had a shop owner get mad at me for doing this and they have returned the favor.



There is a message board on this site for reporting undercover cars HERE It is ridiculous to let a BAR car work an area for MONTHS on end as the state rakes in the money. The license number can change so make sure to include not only the vehicle description, make, model, defects, description of the driver but also the entire Vin code if possoble.The BAR makes up TEST HISTORY on undercover cars so don't trust it. What you can do with the information is see if the smog you did was recorded in the test history if it was not recorded then it was an undercover car. Since the BAR cannot keep 10 smogs in one day on the record and not arouse suspicion. DO NOT SMOG A BAR CAR. Shops have been hit fot failing a BAR car. You can't trust ANYTHING having to do with the BAR.



Appeal citations. You can speak to a lawyer specializing in BAR cars HERE. He can best advise what to do and first consultation is free. I spoke to him and was quoted about 1300 for the case. They say they do win in a number of cases. What ever you do DON'T wait! You have to send in your appeal withing 30 days after the bullshit BAR meeting or you loose ALL YOUR RIGHTS. The call is free the citation is permanent. Better pay someone that works for a living than pay parasitic RATS.
